Africa-Press – Eswatini. Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says Kareem Ashraff’s diplomatic status as Indonesian Consular must be clarified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
This comes after King Mswati welcomed His Excellency the Indonesian Ambassador Saud Purwanto Krisnawan at Lozitha Palace last week Thursday and this,automatically terminated Ashraff’s diplomatic status according to sources within the Indonesian Embassy.
It is alleged that, while holding the position of Indonesian Consular, Kareem Ashraff engaged in rampant corruption within Government and other State entities.
Ashraff, the Director Swazipharm is allegedly implicated in the disappearance of billions within the Ministry of Health, resulting to the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.
But the Government hasn’t formally clarfified whether Ashraff will remain a Consular or not after Indonesian Ambassador Saud Purwanto Krisnawan presented letters of credence to the eSwatini King.
“Kindly take it up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consulars report.It is that Ministry that keeps the records of each one of the Foreign Service team accredited to Eswatini”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo declined to comment about the matter.
Ashraff has been allegedly looting public funds while holding the status of being an Indonesian Consular, hundreds of emaSwati have died since the health crisis erupted triggered by Ashraff’s alleged looting of billions within the Ministry of Health.
