Africa-Press – Eswatini. Timothy Matsebula, the Auditor General(AG), has released a statement blasting the Times of Eswatini for defending SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff while implying that, the Office of the AG compiled an inaccurate report.
This comes after the Times published a story on Saturday, defending the SwaziPharm Director after Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala blocked an attempt by the Anti Corruption Commission(ACC) and the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) to obtain a warrant of arrest against Ashraff, the businessman who is facing arrest for allegedly looting public funds resulting in the shortage of drugs in public hospitals, subsequently rushed to the Times of Eswatini to defend himself.
“The OAG has in its possession sufficient and appropriate evidence supporting the audit findings that drugs amounting to about E33.9million were undelivered at CMS”, reads the statement in part.
The Auditor General then urged the Times to obtain facts about the matter.
