Africa-Press – Eswatini. More business opportunities are upcoming in the Lubombo Region as the Al-Mansoor Group of companies is set to construct a new shopping complex in the region.
This was revealed by Ubombo Sugar Limited (USL) Head of Corporate Affairs Leonard Ndzimandze during the USL annual Suppliers Day held yesterday at the Ubombo Country Club. Ndzimandze stated the Al-Mansoor Group has acquired an ample piece of land measuring around six hectares from USL to set up this new shopping complex, which will be called the Big Bend lifestyle centre. It is worth noting that the Al-Mansoor Group is the very same company that owns the two Lifestyle Centres in Manzini and Matsapha, respectively.
Ndzimandze stated that the deal between Ubombo Sugar Limited and the developers, the Al-Mansoor Group, has been finalised as due payments were made successfully. He shared that as USL, they were currently assisting the developers with the construction works.

He also shared that the developers were also preparing for the official sod cutting which they hope for it to be done by His Majesty King Mswati III.
Ndzimandze stated that the developers were looking to bring different types of businesses to occupy the spaces of the complex. He said they were in discussions with big brands in the hardware, wholesale and retail space. He highlighted that the developers were planning to bring among many other things a KFC drive-thru.
He said they were also looking into bringing government services to the Lubombo Region. “They want to make their shopping centre a one-stop shop, where one would access everything,” said the USL corporate affairs head. He shared that the developers were planning to commence construction as soon as this year. He said they were finalising the draft floor plans. He said for them as USL, the upcoming project was such an important one as they wanted to cut the travelling costs for their employees who were currently doing their shopping in either Manzini or Mbabane. He added that through this project, there would be other developments like housing that would take place.
The USL head of corporate affairs shared that at the Ubombo Estate, they had 22 000 hectares of land, of which 10 000 of that was undeveloped and could be utilised for housing development purposes. Ndzimandze further revealed that the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) has also acquired a piece of land in the Ubombo Estate. He said through this land, ERS would set up the Lubombo Regional Service Centre. He said through this, ERS would be bringing services to the people and it was strategically placed next to the upcoming complex.
