Africa-Press – Eswatini. MBABANE Highlanders could suffer a major blow ahead of their derby encounter with Swallows as strong defender Aristote Tamuzi is reported to be on his way out of the club.
Well-informed sources within the club have revealed that the DR Congo-born was expected to tender his resignation yesterday afternoon after Highlanders allegedly failed to honour their end of the contractual obligation.
It has been learnt that Tamuzi is heartbroken after learning that he was the only one who had not been paid the November salary on Monday.
More surprisingly, sources revealed that the salary was eventually transferred to his account only to be ordered to refund the club, without any valid reasons.
Adding salt to the wound, the former Vovovo defender was also left out of the squad that travelled to Pretoria for the week-long camp on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlanders Public Relations Officer Kenneth Dlamini could not be drawn for comment after his cellphone rang unanswered when called yesterday.
Meanwhile, team boss Chief Ally Kgomongwe said the player was expected to appear before the club’s Disciplinary Committee.
“We are still going to take the player for a disciplinary hearing after he absconded the team activities for five days without giving a proper explanation. We are totally unhappy with his conduct but our entire focus is on the Swallows match on Saturday and the team is working hard at training,” he said.
The player has only made a cameo appearance for the crowd pulling side since the start of the season.
The black and white outfit, which will be facing traditional arch-rivals Mbabane Swallows this weekend, in what will be a clash of the festive season, will also be without the services of centre-back Peter ‘Beast’ Dlamini.
