Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Big 5 Group immediately set a powerful tone at the Ngwane Teacher Training College 39th graduation ceremony on October 8, 2025.

This grand national celebration, graced by His Majesty King Mswati III, saw 182 students receive their Primary Teachers Diplomas (PTD). The Big 5 group delivered an impressive historical depiction of the birth of the nation’s monarch, symbolically referred to as the Lion, an event that amplified the day’s significance.

The cultural program was a vibrant tapestry of Eswatini heritage. In addition to the Big 5 Group, the stately movements of Lutsango, Sibhaca, and moving performances by Choral groups and various African dance troupes captivated the audience, all performed in honor of the newly qualified teachers.

During the Big 5 Group’s presentation, young performers, kneeling in reverence on the field, held aloft shields and banners displaying national symbols and historical images as a narrator detailed the significance of the event.

“Fifty-seven years ago, this day, a new lion roared like thunder” ,the narrator proclaimed, describing the momentous occasion of the King’s birth, an event that resonated throughout the nation.

The performance meticulously placed the birth within the context of Eswatini’s path to independence, underscoring the historical weight carried by the date.

The narrator further emphasized the monumental timing: “This day, 19th April 1968, came exactly five months before Emaswati regained full sovereignty from the British rule on September 6, 1968.”

This historical performance by the Big 5 Group powerfully highlighted the inseparable link between the Eswatini monarchy and the nation’s sovereignty. By meticulously recounting the circumstances surrounding the birth of His Majesty King Mswati III in 1968, the presentation underscored the continuity of royal leadership and the profound importance of national milestones like the Flag Raising Day and the regaining of full independence. It served as a vital educational moment, connecting the graduating class and the audience to the deep historical roots and cultural pride that define modern Eswatini.

The powerful narrative and the visual display of national pride served as a profound reminder to the 182 graduating teachers that their professional journey is intrinsically linked to the nation’s heritage and future. The ceremony concluded with a resounding sense of national unity, celebrating both academic achievement and the enduring strength of Eswatini’s cultural and royal traditions.
