Africa-Press – Eswatini. CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Swallows have launched the ‘Shoe Per Point Campaign,’ which kicked-off on Sunday. Swallows Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza said the campaign was aimed at providing children, who did not have shoes for winter, with a pair for every point they manage to accumulate.
The campaign officially started on Sunday after the capital city side managed to beat Manzini Wanderers at King Sobhuza II Stadium, with captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze selecting the first recipients. “We started the campaign during our game against Manzini Wanderers and since we collected three points, we gave out three vouchers for three pairs of shoes.
We are rolling it out into the winter and we looking forward to escalating the campaign during the second round. “Vouchers are given to fans at the stadium immediately after the game and the fans are chosen by players, with Tony starting things off,” he said.
Mabuza further encouraged fans to attend football matches as well as donate towards the cause. “Fans are encouraged to come to stadiums because they stand a chance to get vouchers, which they will use to identify a child who needs shoes. “Let us use the game of football to reach out to the needy and help them.
“We are looking forward to more people pledging shoes and we encourage anyone looking to make a donation to contact the communications and marketing manager at 7627 0703,” he said.
