Africa-Press – Eswatini. The body of Broodwin, the copper theft suspect who was allegedly shot and killed by the police was on Monday morning found at Elangeni Bridge along the riverbank of the Mbabane river.
This comes after Jabulani Bhembe, the Lobamba Indvuna yeNkhundla ordered the police to produce the body or face a mass protest by the youth within the area.
Bhembe had earlier told this publication that the suspect was allegedly shot nine(9) times by the police, he subsequently fell and drowned in the river while trying to run away.
Phindile Vilakati, the eSwatini Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments on the discovery of the body, Jabulani Bhembe, the Lobamba Indvuna yeNkhundla described the shooting of the suspect as an act of injustice.
”There were about ten(10) police officers including community police and they knew where this young man stays so they could have easily arrested him instead of shooting. All young people should stand-up against this act of injustice”, said the Indvuna YeNkhundla.
Copper theft suspects in eSwatini are ‘sentenced’ to death by the police, about ten(10) have been killed by the police in the last six(6) months.
