Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Excellency Simon Boyden,the British High Commissioner to eSwatini says without freedom of expression, other rights cannot be fully exercised.
Speaking to press this week as part of the World Press Freedom Day Commemoration,the British High Commissioner said he was very happy to be invited to deliver a keynote address during the event organized by the Campaign for Free Expression, the event was held at Emafini Lodge in Mbabane on Wednesday.
“Highlighting the fundamental role that freedom of the media, press freedom and freedom of expression more generally, plays in underpinning other fundamental rights in society. Without freedom of expression,other rights cannot be fully exercised. So it’s important for any democratic peaceful society and indeed to the economic development and prosperity that individuals and media organizations, whether in print, online or broadcast are able to access information and publish information in the public interest,”said the British High Commissioner.
