Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prince Lonkhonkhela, the Natural Resources Minister and other Cabinet Ministers including police officers who escorted them, were served with rice, meat and salads while Gege Mbondzela residents were forced to share brown loaves of bread.
This was during the evictions crisis resolution meeting on Monday,Minister Prince Lonkhonkhela had gone to Mbondzela to try and defuse the escalating tension after the demolition of homes allegedly by Taiwan nationals in collaboration with local capitalists.
Reached for comments on Wednesday,Siboniso Mkhabela, the National Organizing Secretary(NOS) of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said, it was painful to see the residents sharing loaves of bread.
“I was there and saw everything. They were ordered to form groups of five(5) people and each group shared one(1) loaf of bread while Ministers and police officers were enjoying rice, meat and salads”,said the PUDEMO National Organizing Secretary.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
But the PUDEMO Organizing Secretary accused the Tinkhundla system of not respecting the dignity of the people,by forcing them to share loaves of bread while Ministers and police officers “enjoy rice, meat and salads”.
