Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) joined other member countries in Manila, Philippines for this year’s Global Policy Forum (GPF) this past week.

The GPF was co-hosted by AFI and one of its founding members Bangko Sentralng Pilipinas (BSP) under the theme, ‘Stability, Sustainability, and Inclusivity for Shared Prosperity’.

The GPF was a four-day event, working group meetings (day one), the Annual General Meeting (second day), and the Global Policy Forum (day three and four).

Represented

The CBE was represented by the Governor, Dr Phil Mnisi, and seven working group members: Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Finance Working Group – Gcina Nxumalo, Global Standards Proportionality Working Group – Phephile Dlamini, Financial Inclusion Strategy and Peer Learning Working Group – Beverly Mavuso, Financial Inclusion Data Working Group – Muzi Mavuso, Consumer Empowerment and Market Conduct – Zamaokuhle Dlamini, Inclusive Green Financing – Bhekizwe Dlamini and Digital Financial Services Working Group – Linda Dlamini. According to the central bank, the working groups provide a platform for knowledge exchange and peer learning that allow members to share, deliberate and deepen their knowledge and understanding of key financial inclusion issues.

Spotlight

The CBE highlighted that GPF’s spotlight was on the intersection between inclusion, stability and sustainability against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving global socio-economic, geopolitical and environmental landscape. Discussions focused on how members can best promote financial inclusion alongside financial stability and integrity; how to institutionalise efforts to promote financial inclusion and how to capitalise on the transformational impact of technology while keeping its risks in check.
