Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eco-Rev Distributions (Pty) Ltd, a company with links to Musa Mdluli,the husband to Hhohho Regional Administrator(RA) is highly expected to cash over R250million public funds after successfully lobbying for the change of number plates again.

This is the same company that benefited from the same business deal around 2010, it remains unclear why the State wants to change the number plates less than fifteen(15) years after the introduction of new number plates.

It has been reported that,eSwatini has a ratio of eighty-nine(89)cars per-one thousand(1000) people and this means about one hundred thousand(100 000) cars might need new number plates that costs around two hundred and fifty Rands(R250.00) each.

Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, the Minister of Public Works and Transport has announced the change of number plates again.

This means, Government will cash millions from members of the public in the project,the change comes less than fifteen(15)years since Government changed number plates.

Efforts to reach businessman Musa Mdluli proved unsuccessful and Regional Administrator(RA) Princess Tsandzile had not responded to our questionnaire at the time of compiling this report.

Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, the Minister of Public Works and Transport told the Senate Portfolio Committee on Monday that, the proposed number plates will increase security as it will ensure owner and vehicle identification.The number plates according to the Minister, will have the identification for the purpose of road traffic regulation and national security, he said the new number plates design would be plain white with a QR code.

The Public Works and Transport Minister further said this will enable scans by CCTVs to be installed on public roads.
