This 10-track body of work is a profound exploration of love, home, and real-life experiences, scheduled to drop before January 2026 ends. To perfectly align with the romantic and emotional energy of the project, an official album launch is set for February, a month celebrated worldwide as the season of love.
The journey to this album has been a long time coming for Mndzebele, who has been building his musical career “brick by brick.” He is currently well known for his standout verse in the viral hit “Badede,” a performance that truly cemented his status as a household name and showcased his unique ability to blend melodic depth with honest storytelling. He is also celebrated for deeply personal songs like “MAKE,” which honors parental love and showcases his dedication to heartfelt storytelling and cultural pride.
For Cool Drop, the title “Emakhaya” represents far more than just a physical location. It symbolises love, comfort, roots, and the essential journey back to one’s true self. “Emakhaya is not just an album—it’s a feeling, a home, and a love story told through music,” the artist explained while discussing the project. He further noted that the album draws heavily from personal experiences, relationships, and everyday community stories that many listeners will find relatable, reflecting different chapters of life from heartbreak to growth.
The album features a carefully selected tracklist produced and engineered by DJ Citie, blending modern and traditional elements into a unique soundscape. Regarding the creative process, Cool Drop shared that he “focused on creating songs that feel honest and timeless, allowing listeners to connect on a personal level”.
