Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has officially blessed the KaLanga Gateway Shopping Centre and Filling Station, heralding a new era of economic opportunity and development in the area.
The ceremony held on Thursday afternoon marked a significant milestone, as the King expressed his belief that the days of poverty and unemployment in the area are numbered.
Historically known as “Place of Poverty,” KaLonhlupheko is now on a trajectory toward prosperity, thanks to ambitious new developments aimed at revitalizing the local economy.
“The name KaLonhlupheko will no longer befit this area, as it signifies poverty,” declared His Majesty.
“With the creation of the shopping centre and filling station, this community will witness a surge in economic activity. It is time we redefine where we live and our potential.”
His Majesty’s comments reflect a broader commitment to tackling the persistent challenges of drought and unemployment that have plagued the region for decades.
“In the past, such places were known for social ills,” he noted. “But today, we are witnessing efforts to address these issues as our country embarks on a mission to create jobs.”
In addition to the new shopping centre and filing station that promise to provide essential services, the King revealed plans for forthcoming developments, including a pharmaceutical company, which will further contribute to job creation in the area.

The introduction of water infrastructure, once a significant barrier to development, is also being addressed, with plans underway to improve access to this vital resource.
“Even though the water supply is not yet sufficient for the area’s needs, we are committed to taking the necessary steps to industrialize and promote agricultural ventures,” the King affirmed.
The newly established Gateway Shopping Centre is not just a commercial hub but also a beacon of hope for residents.
With banking and various other services available, residents can enjoy conveniences that previously required long trips to larger towns.
King Mswati III encouraged community members to step forward with their own visions for development, urging them to engage with local structures, including Imiphakatsi, to access support for their initiatives.
“Your ideas matter, and there are channels available to help you bring them to reality,” he stated.
It should be noted that as KaLonhlupheko embarks on this transformative journey,
the community can look forward to a brighter future filled with opportunities that promise to uplift and empower the lives of its residents.
It is a new chapter for the area, one that holds the promise of prosperity and resilience.
