Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Haven Campaign saw a great turnout for the first edition of ‘Sip and Paint’, coined by current reigning Miss Eswatini Tania Nunn alongside Miss Eswatini Second Princess Fezile Mthupha.

The event was an outdoor affair, boasting white decor that stood out elegantly at Summerfield Botanical Garden, courtesy of Regnbow. The Haven Campaign focuses on spreading positivity, empowering, and elevating the standards of less fortunate individuals by promoting mental health. This event was aimed at equipping minds with how better they can tackle mental issues, hence bringing them together at Summerfield Botanical Garden to share their experiences, while sipping and painting. The event was themed ‘Blossoming Mind’.

The attendees benefited from the gathering, as they received words of wisdom when it comes to mental health from experienced clinical psychologist Temavulane Motsa, who was the guest speaker.

During her speech, she shared ways in which people can fight mental health, citing that exercising more helps. “Exercising more often helps maintain your wellness. This keeps the mind relaxed while also being in an active state that allows you to manoeuvre easily when solving problems, as well as fighting stress. Finances also pose a threat to mental health; it is wise to practice saving, as well as have a plan for how one spends money since most of our mental stress comes from money,” Motsa said. She also delved into self-care, where she encouraged women to have social interaction at least once a day. “Women need to have social interaction to be in good mental health status. At least they should have physical interaction once a day, as well as find other ways to cope with anxiety. The emotional self is one way in which women can cope with anxiety. They need to be present in the moment all the time and avoid thinking about a lot of things, especially while discussing real-life issues,” Motsa added. The reigning queen and her princess also shared a brief speech with the attendees and shared how they came up with the Haven Campaign concept.

“It all started when we were still running for Miss Eswatini and then improved because we got a few sponsors. We actually hosted a Christmas drive for kids last year, as means of trying to bring positivity. We would like to thank everyone for making time to be part of this event. This Sip and Paint event is an initiative to raise mental health awareness and also a fundraiser for the campaign,” they said. Nunn also mentioned that they have a website that is currently running, courtesy of the Haven Campaign. This is where people will find information pertaining to mental health issues. It is available on Instagram as ‘@mymentalhaven’. The attendees won big during the event; an Oukitel C32 cellphone worth E4 000 was given away; a night stay at the Green Haven Luxury Apartments was also up for grabs; a night for two at Summerfield Botanical Garden, as well as a White Orchid day spa voucher worth E500 were also given away. The sponsors of the Sip and Paint event were Green Haven Luxury Apartments, Oukitel, Summerfield Botanical Garden, Deelangza Pho
