Africa-Press – Eswatini. South African soccer legend Doctor Khumalo will headline the 1st Annual Build Him Men’s Symposium on June 28, 2025, sharing his powerful story of overcoming life’s toughest battles.
The event, dedicated to raising awareness about men’s mental health, promises to bring together men from all walks of life for a life-changing experience.
Opening up about his decision to join the event, Khumalo shared how his journey has shaped him into the man he is today.
“In my life, I’ve faced immense loss, pain, and disappointment,” he reflected.
“From the tragic death of my father in a carjacking attempt, to the loss of my first-born daughter in a car accident, and the passing of my mother from a chronic illness, I’ve been through it all.”
As he approaches his 58th birthday, Khumalo said he is now at a place of deep reflection.
“These experiences haven’t broken me. Instead, they’ve empowered me with wisdom that I’m eager to share,” he added, expressing gratitude for the resilience gained along the way.
Sisusa Dlamini, the founder and facilitator of Semusa Networks, which is hosting the symposium, said Khumalo’s inclusion was a no-brainer.
“Doctor Khumalo is more than just a soccer legend; he embodies strength in the face of adversity,” Dlamini said.
“His story will inspire and empower the men in attendance, and we’re honored to have him as our keynote speaker.”
Set during Men’s Health and Mental Health Month, the symposium aims to provide a safe space for men to discuss their mental well-being openly.
“We want to create an environment where men can come together to talk, laugh, dance, and ultimately heal,” Dlamini said. “June is the perfect time for this event, especially with Father’s Day celebrations. It’s all about showing love and giving men their ‘me time’ with the boys.”
With only 250 tickets available, the event is expected to sell out quickly. There are 200 general admission tickets and 50 VIP tickets available online starting Friday.
Attendees can expect an exciting lineup of speakers, workshops, and activities designed to inspire and uplift. The event will also feature an after-party with local DJs to ensure attendees can unwind with great music and company.
“This isn’t just an event; it’s a movement to empower men, one conversation at a time,” said Dlamini. “It’s something you don’t want to miss.”
