DON’T INTERFERE IN OUR BUSINESS – EZULWINI UTD CEO

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Ezulwini United Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nsindiso Tsabedze has come out to clear the air over the issue involving newly-appointed Coach Siyabonga Bhembe and Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) Secretary General (SG) Musa Mamba.

It is alleged that the two football coaches engaged in a confrontation which turned ugly during an MTN National First Division (NFD) match between Ezulwini United and Ludzeludze Killers, which was played at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground this past Saturday. The game happened to be Bhembe’s first after joining the Lobamba-based side from Mbabane Swallows and they eventually suffered their first defeat of the season too. The CEO said the EFCA had no right to question the way they conducted their business as a team, as Bhembe was eligible to execute his job without being disturbed by anyone regardless of his position in local football structure. “How we conduct our business should not be determined by anyone; in fact, no one should interfere in how we run the team,” Tsabedze said.

He said the technical bench was mandated to work together and as coaches, they were eligible to shout instructions from the sidelines without being asked of their roles or qualifications, unless there were rules in the 2022/23 MTN NFD regulations which were against that. “We don’t know of any rules that state who is responsible to give instructions between the head coach and his assistant. We have seen around the globe where coaches would shout instructions regardless of their positions in clubs,” he explained. Tsabedze also highlighted that the process of registering Bhembe had started, as by Friday they were hoping that it would have been sorted as it had to go via the EFCA. Meanwhile, Mamba said no one removed Bhembe from the technical bench as he only questioned the CEO on the position of the coach. He also said their job as an association was to make sure that the coaches’ contracts were known to them so that they could help them when they faced any challenges from their employers.
