Africa-Press – Eswatini. Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has praised the funeral of Pope Francis as a moment of true global unity. Representing His Majesty King Mswati III and the Nation, Dladla said the gathering of world leaders was bigger than United Nations meetings.
Deputy Prime Minister, alongside Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi, travelled to Vatican City on April 24 to attend the funeral service. They departed through King Mswati 111 International airport.
Speaking during an interview with EBIS, she highlighted how rivals, friends, and even election opponents stood together to honor the late Pope.
Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, at the age of 88. His funeral, held on Saturday, April 26 at St. Peter’s Square, brought together an extraordinary assembly of world figures.
A significant moment came when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and United State President Donald Trump met one-on -one for the first time since their Oval Office dispute. Sky News reported that Zelensky described the meeting as “good” and hoped it would lead to a full ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Thulisile Dladla said the turnout reflected Pope Francis character and his lifelong message of equality. “In his eyes, we were all equal,” she said.
The funeral can be compared to the memorial of Nelson Mandela, where the world similarly came together in respect and peace. Two UN secretaries general, the presidents of the European Council and European Commission, two French Presidents, Four United States President and four UK Prime Minister attended.
Pope Francis final farewell served as a powerful reminder that unity remains possible, even among the greatest of rivals.
