Africa-Press – Eswatini. In New York!

If you are in New York Times Square, you might spot Eswatini’s country music duo Dusty and Stones on the screens.

Dusty, real name Gazi Simelane, and Linda ‘Stones’ Msibi are country music singers from Eswatini and have been featured in motion pictures running through the New York Times Square.

Simelane said the reason they were on motion pictures was because they had released a country music documentary.

“We had a 10-day trip all through the Southern pat of the United States and got to meet the Mooihoek Country Boys. Our documentary covers our 10-day trip and the recording of our music there,” said Simelane.

Simelane further mentioned that the documentary is called ‘Dusty and Stones’ and also covers a question and answer session with Jesse Rudoy and the Mooihoek Country Boys.

“The documentary was premiered from November 9 to 27, 2022 at the DOC NYC which is America’s largest Documentary Festival and is available in theatres and online.

“The film was amazingly received and we received a standing ovation during the Premier,” said Simelane.

The country music singer further revealed that they had recorded a few songs in Nashville which would be released soon.

“We would like to thank the love and support from emaSwati as well as Jesse Dudoy and the team for believing in our dreams and taking steps to ensure our dreams are kept alive,” said Simelane.

Simelane said the trip to Nashville made them grow artistically and brought diversity to them as well as versatility.

According the internet, New York Times Square does not pay for fleeting or motion pictures unless you have become an official face, however for any artist this is considered huge free publicity.
