EEC Honors Baphalali Red Cross for Workplace Safety

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society has been honoured by the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) for its outstanding contributions to workplace safety through its nationwide First Aid training programmes.

The recognition came during the Safety Indaba 2025, hosted this week at The Luke Commission in Sidvokodvo, where the Red Cross was awarded a certificate of appreciation.

The honour highlighted the organisation’s role in equipping companies, organisations, and individuals with life-saving First Aid skills.

Receiving the award on behalf of Baphalali, Manzini Branch Coordinator Sandile Ginindza described the moment as a proud milestone that affirmed the organisation’s impact on safety culture in Eswatini.

He said the recognition was not just for Baphalali but for every volunteer and trainer who had committed their time to teaching safety and emergency response skills.

“We are deeply humbled by this honour from EEC,” Ginindza was quoted as saying.

“This certificate is a reminder that the work we do, training people in First Aid and emergency preparedness, saves lives every day. Safety is not optional; it is a responsibility we all share.”

He further encouraged workplaces and households across the country to prioritise training.

“Emergencies do not knock before they enter. Being trained in First Aid means you are ready to save a colleague, a neighbour, or even a loved one when seconds matter most,” Ginindza said.

The Red Cross has been an active participant in the annual Safety Indaba, advocating for a culture of zero fatalities and zero tolerance to incidents.

Ginindza pledged that Baphalali would continue to partner with government institutions and private companies to create safer work environments and communities.

EEC officials commended the Red Cross for its unwavering commitment, noting that the organisation’s training programmes have not only improved workplace preparedness but also contributed to national safety goals.

Ginindza concluded by dedicating the award to Red Cross volunteers across the country, saying:

“This recognition belongs to every volunteer who steps up to train others, every staff member who runs safety programmes, and every participant who takes the decision to learn First Aid. Together, we are building a safer Eswatini.”
