Africa-Press – Eswatini. The King says emaSwati should be tapping themselves on the shoulders for working extra hard.
The King noted that the country had recorded a lot of success in the current years and international bodies had recognised the improvement. His Majesty, as he was addressing the nation, recalled that the World Bank ranked Eswatini among the African countries that had shown improvement in their economy. “The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) has increased by 7.8 per cent, which is regarded as a serious achievement for a developing country,” he said. He also noted the country recently hosted the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) heads of State Summit. The King mentioned that as the SACU leaders were in the country, they were impressed by the development they saw during their visit almost a week ago. He said he concurred with them because he had, of late, been unable to recognise some places he had visited in the previous years because of the enormous development that had taken place.
He highlighted the recent increase in SACU receipts under Eswatini’s chairmanship.
Developments
“Even some of the roads are not recognisable, to the extent that one can find himself on the wrong side, because of the development that has taken place on the roads,” he said. Further, the King also noted an improvement in the health sector as well. He highlighted that he recently visited a state-of-the-art hospital with all the equipment and specialists. He said he stood confident that the country’s health facilities were capable to withstand all health emergencies that may occur. Furthermore, the King went on to state that the country was prioritising socio-economic issues that included caring for the elderly, access to education and improving the employment rate. He said that was to ensure that the country had great socio-economic status.
His Majesty said prioritising the socio-economic landscape was crucial in order to enable every person to reach their dreams and the nation was obligated to ensure that came to life.
The King added that with all the improvements he listed, emaSwati should be tapping themselves on the shoulders for working together, with the goal of improving the nation. “These are great fruits that every liSwati should be proud of for working together,” he said. He noted that the success of a nation was owed to its people, because it was reached through hard work, hence there shouldn’t be a single person who would take the glory of the nation’s success alone.
