The Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), acting in its capacity as the Eswatini Data Protection Authority (EDPA), has announced the successful renewal of Data Protection Certificates for the second cohort of registered data controllers and processors across the country.
This achievement reflects the growing national commitment to safeguarding personal data and digital privacy under the Eswatini Data Protection Act, a law which aims to align the country with international data protection standards.

The EDPA commended the organizations for demonstrating best practices in managing data securely and lawfully. “Their proactive compliance sets an excellent example for other institutions in Eswatini,” the Commission noted.
Reminder to Late Registrants and Renewals
The EDPA reiterated that the initial registration deadline lapsed in September 2024, and all institutions that process personal data are legally required to be registered. Organizations that have yet to register or renew their certificates are strongly urged to do so, as failure to comply may attract penalties in line with the Act.
