Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini has been recognised internationally as one of the top destinations to visit in 2025, a feat hailed by the Minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Honourable Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, as a testament to the Kingdom’s unique attractions and growing global appeal.
Speaking during a media briefing on Monday, December 22, 2025, Hon Jane Mkhonta-Simelane said the recognition by CNN Travel confirms what Eswatini has long known – that the Kingdom is a “jewel of Africa” offering a travel experience unlike any other. The accolade highlights Eswatini’s signature attractions, such as Sibebe Rock, and cross-border initiatives including the Triland agreement with Mozambique and South Africa, which collectively enhance the regional tourism offering.
“This global acknowledgement is a crowning achievement for all of us working to position Eswatini as a premier destination,” said the Minister. “It shows that the world is eager to experience the warmth, culture, and majesty of our Kingdom.”
The Minister also shared encouraging tourism figures, noting that from January to October 2025, Eswatini welcomed 867 810 visitors, an 11.1 percent Increase compared to the same period in 2024. June alone saw a 16.4 percent growth in arrivals, with over 111 000 international visitors recorded during the last festive peak.
According to the Minister, these numbers demonstrate that Eswatini is steadily closing the gap on pre-pandemic performance and moving closer to its long-term target of two million tourists and E2 billion in revenue by 2027.
Minister Jane Mkhonta-Simelane further urged EmaSwati to embrace domestic tourism and explore local attractions, while encouraging international visitors to experience the Kingdom’s hospitality. She stressed that sustainable tourism, environmental preservation, responsible travel and road safety remain key priorities for the sector moving into 2026.
“Eswatini is not just recovering; we are transforming our tourism sector to be greener, inclusive and economically robust,” she said.
