Eswatini Diaspora Convenor writes to SA Police Commissioner amid Mswati’s alleged plot to arrest activists hiding in South Africa

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Bonginkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini, the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED) has written a letter to the South African(SA) Police Commissioner amid allegations suggesting that, some members of the SA law enforcement agency were being paid by Mswati to arrest political activists hiding in the neighboring country.

“It has since come to our attention that there could be some rogue elements in the South African Police Service(SAPS) that are working for the King Mswati regime. It is said these rogue elements may be in the payroll of King Mswati to do his dirty job of tracking, arresting and handing over of some of the Eswatini’s pro-democracy activists to his autocratic regime,”reads the letter in part.

Efforts to reach the South African Police Spokesperson proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane demanded evidence suggesting that the King was paying South African police officers to abduct political activists.

“We shall wait until we are furnished evidence before we can take a position on it. As a country we only have records of working openly through INTERPOL and regional police service when there is a need to trace a criminal suspect to appear in a court of law.For now we feel we should allow the South African Police Service to investigate and make their findings public,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
