Eswatini King Appeals for Collective Efforts to Fight Poverty Amid Socio-Economic Challenges, Says he will not Rest until every Liswati Enjoys a Decent Life

Africa-Press – Eswatini. King Mswati has appealed for a collective efforts to fight poverty amid socio-economic challenges in the southern African tiny Kingdom.

The King shared these sentiments when addressing thousands of emaSwati who attended his fifty-seventh(57th) birthday on Friday at the King Sobhuza Stadium in Nhlangano-the southern parts of eSwatini.

The celebration comes amid escalating social challenges that include shortage of drugs in public hospitals, scarcity of scholarships for University students, non-maintenance of roads and the ever escalating costs of living that pushed thousands of emaSwati including public servants deeper into poverty.

But the King assured the Nation that, he will not rest until every Liswati enjoys a decent life under an environment of peace and stability.

““We will not rest until every liSwati has a job to wake up to or is able to make a livelihood. We shall also ensure that infrastructure development in this region is taken to the expected standards, more especially when we consider the livelihoods of the elderly amongst us, who have little ones to take care of while they themselves have no one to fend for them. We will ensure they stay in houses that are fit for occupation and that they are well taken care of.We will also not leave behind persons with disabilities and will ensure that they are well taken care of and given all the support they need. I want to assure all vulnerable groups that they will also be taken care of as we foster our development agenda as a Nation,” he said.

Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, currently, the Government is struggling to pay suppliers thus worsening the socio-economic challenges.
