Africa-Press – Eswatini. ESWATINI Mobile has withdrawn its E1 million sponsorship from The Rebirth of Music Carnival four days before the show.
This was announced through a statement issued on Monday night.
Eswatini Mobile confirmed that they had distanced themselves from the festival.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this might have caused to customers who already purchased tickets. The public is assured that all tickets sold prior to this announcement are still valid. Should you wish to be refunded, please indicate through our 980 line and you will be refunded. In due course we will announce our next exciting adventure for our loyal customers to participate in,” reads the statement.
The Rebirth of Music Carnival team also confirmed the ‘divorce’ between the two parties.
The team behind the festival, AlV Investment, said they had amicably parted ways with Eswatini Mobile who were their headline sponsor.
“This therefore means Eswatini Mobile experience cantres will no-longer be selling Carnival tickets as before.
The public is informed that all tickets to the Carnival will now be available at all Galitos outlets countrywide.
The public is assured that tickets sold on all Eswatini Mobile platforms in the previous weeks are valid and will allow holders to gain entry into the event on Saturday. AlV Investment assures all attendees that The Rebirth of Music Carnival will deliver a spectacular event,” said the team behind the festival.
The parties’ partnership was announced at the launch of the festival three weeks ago. Eswatini Mobile’s representative Fezile Dlamini had said they wanted to celebrate its numerous milestones with the entire country regardless of age-groups.
“We have decided to sponsor an event that will ensure that families will all come out to enjoy a colourful carnival spectacular that has never been experienced in the country,” said Dlamini when she was confirming the E1 million sponsorship.
She had said on the day of the event, they would offer snack stalls, food stalls, kids’ zone, toys, tall men on stilts, jugglers and a magic wonderland atmosphere as well as many more exciting activities.
“Eswatini Mobile through this sponsorship, has realised an opportunity to be part of the Rebirth of the Eswatini Music Scene by providing a bit of work for as many local artists that we can in one festival in one day,” she had added. However, this is now a thing for the past.
Reasons for the two parties’ divorce are not known. Both parties shied away from stating reasons of the separation.
The event is slated for Saturday and is expected to host over 40 local artists at Malkerns Country Club commencing at 9am.
The acts will be supported by South African artists such as Young Stunna, Kabza De Small and Senior Oat.
