The data indicated a substantial 38.9% increase in visitor arrivals compared to the same holiday in the preceding year, with a total of 39,490 individuals entering the Kingdom.
A report by the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) revealed that a significant portion of this influx comprised emaSwati residing abroad, with 22,265 individuals reportedly returning to their homeland to celebrate the Easter holidays.
This homecoming not only contributed to the vibrant atmosphere across the nation but also injected valuable spending into the local economy.
Furthermore, the reports highlighted a strong showing of international tourists, with 17,225 visitors choosing Eswatini as their Easter destination.
It was stated that the Southern African region accounted for the vast majority of these international arrivals, representing over 93% of the total.

Interestingly, the data also suggested a growing global interest in Eswatini, as tourists from countries further afield, including the USA, UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, were also recorded among the Easter visitors.
“Ngwenya, Matsamo, Mahamba, and Lavumisa border posts were primary points of entry for the majority of these travellers, indicating their crucial role in facilitating the increased tourism activity,” read the report.

These initiatives reportedly aimed to encourage both domestic and international travel by showcasing Eswatini’s diverse cultural and natural attractions. Such campaigns often included competitions and special offers from various tourism establishments.
Sources emphasized that Easter is traditionally a time for community and family in Eswatini, providing an opportunity for gatherings and the strengthening of social bonds.
