Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini actors join hit TV series after open auditions and official send-off.
In a momentous gathering that marked a new chapter in the creative arts partnership between South Africa and Eswatini, Black Brain Pictures, the powerhouse behind the hit series Isitha: The Enemy, hosted the Isitha Talents Media Brief, an event highlighting key developments in their collaboration with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC).
Speaking at the briefing, series producer Sithandiwe Shabangu of Black Brain Pictures reflected on the partnership’s powerful journey, initiated during the 2023 Creative Industries Summit in Eswatini through a forward-looking engagement with visionary creative leader Mandla N. “It’s truly an honour to work hand in hand with ENCAC and the Ministry,” Shabangu stated. “This partnership is more than professional, it’s about elevating Eswatini’s creative voice on a global scale.”
Shabangu further explained that the selection of Eswatini talent was done through open auditions, ensuring transparency and inclusivity. “We wanted to make sure every passionate performer in Eswatini had the chance to shine,” she said. The audition process has since led to the careful selection of standout talents now preparing to join the production of Isitha: The Enemy Season 3.
With the spotlight on Isitha’s upcoming season, Shabangu revealed that the series will give global audiences “a deeper look into Eswatini’s heart, culture, and rising talent.” Selected actors have already received their scripts and begun immersing themselves in the emotionally charged and suspenseful storyline.
With production timelines now firming up, travel logistics for the Eswatini cast are being finalized, with departure expected soon. The anticipation in the room was palpable, as young actors prepare for a transformative experience on one of the region’s most watched television series.
The event was graced by top government and ENCAC officials including:
Hon. Bongani Nzima, Minister of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs
Prince Mlayeto, Principal Secretary
Mzwandile Mthethwa, Under Secretary
ENCAC Board Members and CEO
Mfanufikile Mabuza, Ministry Planner
Mangaliso Simelane, Acting Director of Sport
In his remarks, Minister Nzima praised the young Emaswati chosen for the show, urging them to stay grounded and carry the nation’s values forward. “We are proud of you,” he said. “Be respectful, be disciplined, and make us proud. Emaswati are known for their humility and dedication. This is your time to represent Eswatini with honour.”
This landmark collaboration between Black Brain Pictures and Eswatini not only gives local creatives a platform but signals a broader cultural exchange, one that promises to reshape the region’s creative future. As Isitha: The Enemy enters its third season, Eswatini’s stars are now ready to rise.
