ESWATINI UNREST: Apostle Makhubu takes on Conference of Churches

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Apostle Siboniso Makhubu says the Eswatini Conference of Churches (ECC)was silenced by the Tinkhundla regime and its loyalists amid the ongoing political unrest.

Speaking at Hosea on Saturday during an event organized in honour of the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube, the Apostle said he was an active member of the ECC but he decided to leave the organisation after being silenced by the Tinkhundla regime and its loyalists.

“I was an active member of the Conference of Churches but after being silenced by the regime and its loyalists I decided to leave the organisation,” said the pro-democracy Apostle.

Efforts to reach Bishop Robert Kasaro, the ECC President proved futile at the time of compiling this report.

The Eswatini Conference of Churches (ECC) which is led by royalty linked Bishop Kasaro has been silent since the beginning of the political unrest in June 2021 where hundreds of civilians were massacred by King Mswati’s forces for demanding democratic reforms.
