Africa-Press – Eswatini. Events such as the Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival can help in de-stressing, resulting in the alleviation of suicide cases that seem to be on the rise in Eswatini.

This was said by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini on August 2, 2025 when addressing the media, after touring the different stalls at the 2025 edition of the Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival.

Dlamini encouraged all Emaswati and others to attend such events to take some time off their tight working schedules. He said such events were good because they accommodated almost everyone, as children were also spotted playing their different games.

The prime minister was impressed by what he saw in the different stalls he visited and he was of the impression that the event would have a bright future.

He also mentioned that such events had a potential of increasing the country’s economy, as they made a contribution into the country’s fiscus. He also mentioned that many people were able to get different jobs that needed to be done in these events to ensure their success.

Such events have also been encouraged because they presented business opportunities to small business people, who got an opportunity to sell different products to tourists who go to places where such events are held.

The prime minister arrived at the event at around 4pm and he toured almost every area of the event. He was led by House on Fire Director Jiggs Thorne and Standard Bank Chief Executive (CE) Mvuselelo Fakudze.

Dlamini, in his tour, was accompanied by Ministers Phila Buthelezi (Labour and Social Security), Bongani Nzima (Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs), and Jane Mkhonta-Simelane (Tourism and Environmental Affairs), among other officials.

At the event, he got to meet different important people in the country, especially in the corporate sector, including UNDP ESWATINI Resident Representative Henrik Franklin, European Union Ambassador to Eswatini Karsten Mecklenburg, REDI CEO Dr Sikhomba Gumbi, Mbabane Municipal Council CEO Gciniwe Fakudze, Eswatini Bank MD Nozizwe Mulela, among others.
