Africa-Press – Eswatini. Of the 19 Cabinet ministers announced by the Prime Minister (PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini yesterday, 10 had served in the previous government.
This means there are nine new faces forming the 2023-2028 Cabinet. However, one of the new faces, in Manzini South MP Owen Nxumalo, who was appointed the new Minister of Education and Training, is not entirely new, as he served as Minister of Public Service in the 10th Parliament. The new faces include Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Prince Lonkhokhela, who is an appointed in Senator, Minister of Agriculture Mandla Chauke, who is Mkhiweni MP, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta, who is the Mbabane West MP, Minister of Health and Siphocosini MP Mduduzi Matsebula.
Others who are new in Cabinet are Minister of Information, Communication and Technology Senator Savannah Maziya, Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, who is also Nkwene MP, Minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, who is the Sandleni MP, as well as Minister of Housing and Urban Development Apollo Maphalala, who is the Kukhanyeni MP. Seven ministers who were serving in the 11th Parliament retained their ministries and they include Maphalaleni MP Mabulala Maseko, who is the Minister of Public Service, Matsanjeni North MP Phila Buthelezi, who was reappointed as the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Chief Ndlaluhlaza who was reappointed as the Minister of Public Works and Transport.
Others are Lubulini MP Dr Tambo Gina, who was reappointed as the Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Senator Neal Rijkenberg who was reappointed as the Minister of Finance, Princess Lindiwe who was reappointed as the Minister of Home Affairs and MP Manqoba Khumalo, who was reappointed as the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade.
Prince Simelane, who made a plea that more security forces should be hired to ensure security in the country, was appointed as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, while MP Senator Pholile Shakantu was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, replacing Thulisile Dladla who was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. Prime Minister Russell shared that the newly-appointed Cabinet ministers should report to Cabinet this morning for their swearing-in ceremony and they would proceed to get the royal approval thereafter.
