Africa-Press – Eswatini. Finsure Assurance has officially launched Sambulelo Funeral Cover, a groundbreaking insurance product designed to ensure that all Emaswati, particularly those without existing funeral policies, have access to essential funeral support.

The launch took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the rooftop of the Intfutfuko (FINCORP) Building in Mbabane, marking a significant milestone in the company’s mission to promote financial inclusion across the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Finsure Assurance is a fully owned subsidiary of the Eswatini Development Finance Company (FINCORP), one of the nation’s leading development finance institutions. The launch attracted executives and board members from both FINCORP and Finsure Assurance, as well as representatives from various media outlets. The event was directed by Finsure Assurance Business Development Officer, Bayandza Mabuza, and highlighted the company’s commitment to ensuring that every Liswati, regardless of economic background, can access funeral coverage.

Speaking during the launch, FINCORP Group Managing Director (GMD) Dumisani Msibi welcomed attendees and reflected on the organization’s journey.

“Programme Director, business associates, members of the media, the Finsure and FINCORP teams – thank you for joining us at this brief but important launch of our new product,” Msibi began.

He noted that FINCORP will celebrate its 30th anniversary in April 2026, emphasizing the organization’s growth and resilience despite changing market conditions. From just four employees in January 1997, Msibi highlighted that the institution now employs over 130 men and women, all committed to delivering superior services to clients.

“We believe the FINCORP Group is institutionally sound and poised for massive growth going forward. We continue to drive innovation across all areas of service, and our recent statistical reports from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) place FINCORP as the leading credit institution in Eswatini with a 73% market share,” he added.

Msibi also celebrated Finsure Assurance, which, despite being relatively new, has already been recognized among the top five insurance companies in the country. He emphasized the FINCORP Group’s mission to create a development impact and enhance national financial inclusion through its diverse service and product offerings.

“Our ultimate goal is to become a one-stop shop for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. We want every Eswatini citizen to be able to access our diverse offerings, both at parent and subsidiary company levels,” he said.

The GMD explained that the launch of Sambulelo Funeral Cover was in direct response to the needs of the population, acknowledging that funerals often impose significant financial burdens on families.

“Funerals are not only moments of grief but also times of immense financial strain. The Sambulelo Funeral Cover has been designed to address this challenge, ensuring that no Liswati is left behind due to financial constraints,” Msibi said.

He praised the Finsure Assurance team for their hard work in developing the product, taking it through the Executive Committee (EXCO), the Board of Directors, and securing approval from the FSRA, culminating in its official launch. He also thanked the Board of Directors for providing guidance and support throughout the process.

Finsure Assurance Chief Insurance Officer (CIO) Nozipho Mabuza provided detailed insights into the Sambulelo Funeral Cover. She stressed that the product is inclusive, designed to meet the needs of all Emaswati, including informal traders, street vendors, and those who have previously lacked access to insurance services. The funeral cover ensures that families are supported financially during times of loss, reducing the stress and burden associated with funeral arrangements.

Msibi highlighted the synergistic collaboration within the FINCORP Group, which includes FINCORP, First Finance Company, and Finsure Assurance, noting that this partnership is critical to achieving the Group’s mandate as a state-owned development finance institution.

“The formation of subsidiary companies such as Finsure Assurance and First Finance is part of a deliberate strategy to offer holistic services to our clients. Through collaboration, we are able to provide innovative financial solutions and enhance national development,” he explained.

The launch was brief but significant, sending a clear message that FINCORP and Finsure Assurance are committed to serving all Liswati, regardless of economic status. The Sambulelo Funeral Cover is now available to the public, marking a major step toward financial inclusion and support for Eswatini families during life’s most difficult moments.

“We look forward to seeing the nation embrace this new offering. It represents our commitment to delivering accessible, impactful, and inclusive financial services for every Liswati,” Msibi concluded.

With the launch of Sambulelo Funeral Cover, Finsure Assurance is taking decisive steps to ensure that all Emaswati can access funeral support, reducing financial stress during times of grief while reinforcing FINCORP’s vision of development, innovation, and financial empowerment.
