Africa-Press – Eswatini. The President of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has emphasized that the future of local football depends on treating the sport as a brand one that demands investment, innovation, and strategic development across all levels.

Speaking during his address titled “A Word from the President,” he underscored the need for a concerted and synergised approach to football governance, urging all stakeholders to work together in shaping a more sustainable football ecosystem.

“As we commence this new chapter, it is crucial to note that football governance requires a concerted and synergised approach,” he said. “The Executive Committee will retreat to forge an aggressive tactical plan to upscale the performance of football, engaging stakeholders across all spheres to fashion consolidated development constructs.”

He further highlighted that financial sustainability is vital, insisting that football must go beyond being a recreational activity to becoming a commercial and developmental brand that attracts sponsors, fans, and investors alike.

“Football must be treated as a brand, with every stakeholder contributing to its commercial value,” he stressed. “At the same time, grassroots development, coaching education, women’s football and refereeing standards are key pillars of our vision.”

The President noted that initiatives such as the Talent Development Scheme, women’s league expansion, and referee training will continue to drive progress, ensuring that Eswatini football becomes more competitive regionally and internationally.

He also commended the government for its continued support in improving sports infrastructure, particularly the upgrading of Somhlolo Stadium and the establishment of technical centres across the country.

“Infrastructure remains a cornerstone, and we are grateful for government’s support,” he said. “Looking ahead, our vision is to consolidate these efforts into a rewarding pathway for players, clubs and the nation, ensuring football thrives for generations to come.”

Through this renewed vision, the EFA is setting the tone for a transformative era one that positions Eswatini football as a professional, sustainable, and proudly marketable brand.
