Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government has announced that there will be free transport for people who will be attending Sibaya tomorrow.
The free transport will be dispatched to all tinkhundla centres and imiphakatsi across all the four regions of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The buses will also pick up people at all bus stations along all roads of the country. The buses and trucks will start their journey to Ludzidzini Royal Residence at 7am countrywide. This was announced by Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo yesterday. His Majesty King Mswati III has summoned the nation to Sibaya tomorrow and the anticipation from the populace is that he would dissolve Parliament to make way for the ongoing general elections, where the MPs that would form the 12th Parliament would be elected.
Meanwhile, the Elections and Boundaries Commission Deputy Chairperson Sipho Tembe has advised the nation about the ongoing voters’ validation exercise and he encouraged emaSwati to visit the areas where they registered to validate their names on the voters roll. He shared that people only had today and tomorrow to check the voters roll as it would come to a close tomorrow. Tembe has also urged elections officers to follow the laid down procedures if they had grievances, so that the national assignment is not put into jeopardy.

The message from the commission comes after this publication broke a story that a number of registration clerks employed by the commission were threatening to resign following remuneration concerns. It was gathered that some of the people who were recruited to be registration clerks, said they were aggrieved by their remuneration as it varied, despite that they were all engaged in similar duties during the registration period. The clerks claimed that they had been recruited and rendered their services for two months and were recently remunerated after the voter registration process had been completed. They claimed that when being remunerated, some were paid E4 000, other E6 900, while others E8 000. They said among them, others were offered E16 000 while the highest payment was E21 000.
Tembe shared that they recruited people with different academic qualifications and people were deployed in different roles according to their qualifications. He shared that some were juniors while others were in supervisory positions. “For the personnel assisting in the ongoing elections, there are procedures that are followed and stipulated legislation that inform the whole process. There are also procedures that are followed in terms of forwarding grievances to the commission so that they are promptly attended to and also to ensure that the national assignment is not put into jeopardy,” he said.
