“Western and Asian countries are really looking to get ahead of that curve,” he explained.

The minister said the Bangladesh business people have a huge interest in agriculture because they have seen how the African market basically imports most of its food and want to set up facilities to grow maize and other produce.

“They have also seen an opportunity in pharmaceuticals as they have also seen that we import a lot of our drugs, mainly from India. I have been told that Bangladesh is number two in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals in Asia, I had not known this. They look to supply into the region,” he said.
