Africa-Press – Eswatini. All is not well at Green Mamba, as the team has suspended 11 key players for ill-discipline.
This comes after the players gave themselves an illegal off-day from His Majesty Correctional Services, immediately after last Saturday’s MTN Premier League match against Young Buffaloes at KaLanga Stadium.
The players are Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu and Mthunzi ‘Chippa’ Motsa.
Others are Colani Magagula, Njabulo Magagula, Yenzokuhle Khumalo, Khethokuhle Mkhonto, Mthunzi Mkhonto, Mancoba Zwane, Linda Nkambule and Mbutfo Dlamini.
Information gathered is that the players were supposed to report to the Correctional College immediately after the match but that didn’t happen.
Sources close to the matter revealed that the players reported to work on Sunday after 5pm, a thing that infuriated the Correctional Services bigwigs and other recruits. As a result, the players were suspended from the team, while being forced to work extra hours at their workstations.
It must be mentioned that the players are still undergoing training at the Staff College despite that they had already graduated.
“The Correctional Services is trying to instil discipline among the players. What they did is unacceptable,” said the source.
Reached for comment, Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer, Mandla Sibiya was diplomatic in his response.
“It’s an administrative issue, so I can’t say anything as yet,” he said.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the players have been hauled before a Disciplinary Committee today. On another note, Green Mamba head coach Ernest Mavuso said their loss against Illovo was a wake-up call.
“We didn’t express ourselves well and our opponents had a good game-plan. This is a wake-up call to us. We didn’t expect to lose this game,” he bemoaned.
