Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mduduzi Gina, the Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) is suing Lot Vilakati for alleged defamation, he is demanding five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00) as compensation.
The lawsuit comes after the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) Secretary General accused Gina of instructing the police to disperse a meeting for Public Sector Unions(PSUs) held in August 2025 at the SNAT Centre and according to the court papers, Vilakati went on to accuse the TUCOSWA Secretary General of hiding within the premises plotting with the police to disperse the meeting.
“The statement was false in its entirety and Plaintiff was not in the venue as alleged but was in Johonnesburg, South Africa attending to ILO matters, and the Plaintiff had given no such instruction”, reads the court papers in part.
Gina is represented by Musa Sibandze Attorneys in the matter and Vilakati is highly expected to file opposing papers.
