Government Spokesperson blames South Africa, accuses editor of bribing journalists to spy on Eswatini

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo accuses Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini of bribing journalists to spy on Eswatini Government.

When interviewed by the State owned radio, the Government Spokesperson was asked what Government intended to do after declaring Dlamini a terrorist, he said he could not reveal such information as the matter involved State security.

“Ngeke kwanyalo Mnguni ngikwati kukuniketa timfihlo taHulumende nekutsi ku-implementa lomtsetfo Hulumende utawenta njani. Sizatfu sisebaleni, this is a security matter, nebantfu betindzaba-ke siyati nekwekutsi soyabasebentisa ababhadale lo-uMlangeni kwenta kungatsi bayasi-interviewer kantsi information langayisebentisa kubalekela kuto-accouwtha ku-justice.(meaning: I cannot disclose to you Mnguni what the State intends to do because this is a security matter. We are also aware that uMlangeni(editor) bribes journalists to pretend as if they are interviewing us yet they are collecting information on his behalf so he could evade accountability through the justice system,”he said.

The Government Spokesperson further expressed disappointment on South Africa adding that there were international Conventions signed that sought to ensure that a citizen cannot run away from his/her home country with the intention of supporting a war.

“But there’s nothing we can do, because South Africa is South Africa,” said the Government Spokesperson.

As usual, the Swaziland News editor was not contacted by the State owned radio station for his side of the story.
