GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON CLARIFIES:King did not ban Good Friday Services

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo has come out to clarify that the King did not issue any order banning Good Friday Services.

This comes after the Swazi Observer,a newspaper owned by Mswati through the Tibiyo TakaNgwane investment company published an article entitled;

“Churches warned:No more Easter announcements to clash with Easter services apart from the one graced by Their Majesties”.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the Government Spokesperson said he was mandated by the Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe to clarify the issue that resulted to the people criticizing Mswati on social media.

“I have been mandated by the Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe to clarify that the King did not ban Easter Services. Even though it’s part of our culture to attend where the King is; but no one was ever persecuted or condemned for not attending events like Umhlanga or Incwala,”said the Government Spokesperson.
