Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has unveiled plans to construct the Nkwene Pier Bridge, a major infrastructure project set to enhance connectivity and development in the Shiselweni region.
The initiative, part of the government’s commitment to resilient infrastructure, comes in response to recent adverse weather conditions that have affected mobility in the area. Beyond the bridge, the project includes the double-seal paving of a 1 km road passing by Nkwene Inkhundla and the upgrading of a service road leading to Nkwene Clinic and Nkwene Primary School.
“This is a game-changer for the people of Nkwene,” said a government spokesperson. “The project will improve access to essential services, enhance road safety, and contribute to economic growth in the region.”
Once completed, the improved roads and bridge will not only facilitate safer travel but also stimulate local business and development. The government continues to prioritize sustainable infrastructure, ensuring that communities remain connected and resilient in the face of climate challenges.
