Africa-Press – Eswatini. October salaries for public servants will be paid on October 27, the Government of Eswatini has announced, and the payments will include the long-awaited salary adjustments introduced through the Salary Review Report, along with a 15% backpay.
The confirmation comes through an official memorandum issued by the Accountant General, Nomsa B. Simelane, which stated that the adjustment in payment dates was necessary to allow proper integration of the new salary review scales. Permanent employees will receive their salaries on October 27, while other categories will follow on October 31.
“The adjustment is necessary to allow for the proper input and implementation of the new salary review scales,” reads the statement from the Treasury Department. Government expressed deep appreciation for the cooperation and understanding shown by public employees during this transition to a fairer and more rewarding compensation structure.
Milestone for Workers’ Welfare
This month’s payment represents a historic milestone in Eswatini’s commitment to ensuring fair remuneration for its public workforce. The salary review implementation and 15% backpay signal government’s strong acknowledgment of the dedication, service, and resilience of over 44,000 public employees across the country.
Transparency and Collaboration
The memorandum was also shared with key unions, including NAPSAWU, SNAT, SNA, SNAGAP, and the Eswatini Principals Association (EPA) — a move that demonstrates government’s transparent and inclusive approach in communicating with worker representatives.
Economic Boost and Renewed Motivation
The salary adjustments are expected to inject new energy into the economy, as the increased earnings enhance household income and stimulate local commerce. Economists have described the move as a “positive fiscal step” that will benefit both workers and businesses.
For thousands of civil servants, this marks the beginning of a new chapter of motivation and dignity. The review aligns with government’s ongoing efforts to reward excellence, boost morale, and enhance public service delivery.
As the month draws to a close, Eswatini celebrates this landmark moment — one that blends economic progress, social stability, and appreciation for the people who serve the nation every day.
