Africa-Press – Eswatini. The acting Prime Minister, Themba Masuku, has assured the nation that government would continue to provide security amid threats of violence from unknown individuals.

Masuku said government was committed to ensuring that the rights of Emaswati to ply their trade, feed their families, send their children to school and access critical health and other services continue to be its priority.

The acting premier, during a press conference held at Cabinet offices yesterday, urged the nation to be always vigilant and make sure that they continued to work together to defeat those who were out to disturb their safety and social welfare.

He assured the nation that security would be there daily at all times. “Together, we can continue to build our lives and take care of those who are underprivileged,”

Peaceful

Masuku said yesterday was generally peaceful, despite a few skirmishes as a result of provocation from those few individuals who decided not to heed government’s pronouncement about the illegal protest march and that no one should engage in it.

“His Majesty’s government would particularly like to acknowledge the role played by State security officers in maintaining peace, the rule of law and order across the country, despite several attempts by small groups of people to disrupt operations,” Masuku stated.

He explained that even those who did not physically see the State security officers in their areas, there was surveillance covering all areas to ensure their safety and protection.

“That is why we want to continue to appeal to the nation to use emergency numbers, fulfilling the SiSwati adage that you are your brother’s keeper (nawe uliphoyisa),” he stated.

Masuku further urged the nation to report for work and assured that public transport would be available.

He said should it happen that anyone is not able to make it to work that person must communicate with their employers.

He said government would be forced to effect the no-work no-pay policy for those who absent themselves from work without any justification or proper explanation. He said in the event of difficulties communication channels must be used.
