Africa-Press – Eswatini. “Our elders are not just caregivers. They are our living heritage, and it is up to us to ensure their twilight years are filled with comfort, dignity, and the profound appreciation they have earned.”

These powerful words from Minister for Health Mduduzi Matsebula (MP) set the tone for a heartwarming gathering in Manzini, where the nation came together to honour and care for its senior citizens during the Philani Maswati Medical Outreach.

Hosted under the revered patronage of Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, the outreach event drew healthcare professionals, volunteers, government leaders, and community members, united by a shared purpose: to prioritise the health and dignity of the elderly.

The Minister hailed the elders as foundational pillars of Eswatini’s society and history. “Bo gogo nabomkhulu,” he said, “have shaped generations through love, sacrifice, and wisdom. It is now our sacred duty to cherish and support them.”

The outreach offered free medical checkups and wellness services to the elderly, part of Philani Maswati’s ongoing efforts to uplift vulnerable groups through compassionate outreach. Matsebula used the platform to emphasise the importance of preventative healthcare and affirmed government’s commitment to tailored medical services for the elderly.

“We are dedicated to providing accessible, comprehensive and dignified healthcare services,” he stated. “Our goal is to ensure that no elder is left behind in the journey toward better health.”

The Minister extended heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare workers serving in health facilities across Eswatini, calling them the “champions of compassion” whose service is vital to the wellbeing of the nation.

The day ended not only with physical checkups but also with emotional upliftment. The elderly were reminded that their legacy is honoured, and their place in society is deeply valued.

Thanks to the Philani Maswati initiative and ongoing government support, Eswatini continues to shine as a country that embraces its elders with pride, love, and unwavering respect.
