Africa-Press – Eswatini. As winter grips the Kingdom, Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati laNkambule has stepped forward with yet another heartwarming act of generosity, this year donating a total of 1 462 blankets to the elderly, orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), and those facing hardship across Eswatini.
The grand donation ceremony, held at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence, was graced by senior members of the royal family and various stakeholders.
HRH Princess Sibahle, who represented Inkhosikati laNkambule on the day, led the proceedings and delivered moving remarks on behalf of Her Royal Highness.
“This is more than a donation,” said Princess Sibahle. “It is a reminder that the spirit of Ubuntu is alive and well in the Kingdom. Inkhosikati laNkambule’s love for the people of Eswatini is once again shown through this kind gesture. We thank Their Majesties for their continued support in helping the most vulnerable members of society.”
The blankets will be distributed across five chiefdoms (860 blankets), 175 churches, 202 NGOs, and several media houses (225 blankets), reaching thousands in need just as the cold season intensifies.
This year’s donation surpasses last year’s figure of 1 220, showing an increasing commitment to bring dignity and comfort to the less fortunate. The initiative, now a staple in Eswatini’s winter calendar, is specifically aimed at easing the burden for those who lack the basic means to stay warm.
Opening the ceremony with a spiritual note, Pastor Alfred Mandla Kunene read scripture and led a heartfelt prayer, blessing the initiative and those behind it.
Representing the beneficiaries, Chief Zabeni Shiba did not hold back his gratitude. “This is a powerful act of care that will go a long way. These blankets are more than fabric, they are hope, warmth, and protection for the cold days ahead,” he said, thanking Their Majesties and especially Inkhosikati laNkambule for her continued kindness.
Royal solidarity was also felt in full swing. HRH Prince Bandzile, Princess Sidvumolesihle and other members of the royal family attended the event, reaffirming their shared commitment to uplifting the lives of the Kingdom’s most vulnerable citizens.
In a time when the chill of winter can be unforgiving, Inkhosikati laNkambule’s gesture has brought warmth, literally and symbolically, to the hearts of many. The blankets are not just a gift, they are a royal embrace to those in need.
