Judge Mumcy postpones pro-democracy MPs bail application ruling to Thursday

Africa-Press – Eswatini. High Court Judge, Mumcy Dlamini has announced that the judgement for the bail hearing of the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube will be delivered on Thursday,15th December 2022.

Sicelo Mngomezulu, the lawyer representing the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs confirmed the new developments adding that the release of his clients from custody would be a good start in solving the current political crisis.

“The whole country needs some reprieve from all the mayhem that has engulfed it, the release of my clients would obviously be a very good start, in particular given the fact that SADC has confirmed that the regime has yet again agreed to embark on a dialogue exercise. There can be no dialogue with Bacede and Mthandeni still chained to their cells. We have, as the legal team, consistently made a very good case for the MPs’ release on bail, the Judge now has yet another good opportunity to serve justice. We expect that sanity will prevail, finally”, said the lawyer.

MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube were arrested for calling for democratic reforms in Parliament and charged with terrorism allegedly on King Mswati’s order.
