Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III expressed his gratitude at the good report he received from Nkwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s (KNUST) Vice Chancellor about 10 Emaswati students studying here.
Speaking to the students His Majesty said such good report of good conduct and seriousness by which they take their studies continues to make a good name for the country.
“We would like to encourage you to work hard and be good ambassadors for other Emaswati students who would like to come and study in this big university, which has a number of faculties. In my discussions with the Vice Chancellor I was informed of the programmes being offered here and their experienced team of lecturers from who I hope you benefit a lot so that by the time you finish your studies you can come back home and add value to our development and nation building,” the King said.
His Majesty the King said he was happy indeed to come here and found Emaswati in one of Africa’s largest universities, with an enrolment of close to 100 000 students.
He said in their meetings with the Ashanti King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II they talked about a lot of cooperation programmes between the two countries including with the university and were happy that already there is a good number of them here.
“You will now be that link between us and the university. I would like to wish you the best in your studies and encourage you to continue to be good ambassadors. From your introductions I could still see that you still show good respect, which is something we pride ourselves as Emaswati.
His Majesty the King, through the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu, then announced a E17,800 stipend support to the students to assist with their upkeep and academic needs, before proceeding to take a group photo with the excited 10 Emaswati students, who broke out in a dance of appreciation.
His Majesty is expected together with King Osei Tutu II to return to the KNUST to witness the last part of the university graduation ceremony. Given the number of students here, such ceremonies last about three days.
