King Mswati received huge support in Eswatini and other countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) after his Good Friday Speech, declaring that Gays and Lesbians will never be allowed in the tiny Kingdom.
Even though the Gays and Lesbians issue remains a subject of debate, the story published later on Saturday received over one million views within twenty-four (24) hours on Facebook, X and other digital platforms with a majority of the readers in Eswatini, South Africa and other SADC countries praising the King for banning Gays and Lesbians.
Some pro-democracy activists in Eswatini who strongly disagree with the King’s leadership, posted on social media saying on this particular issue, they agree with Mswati.
Eswatini is dominated by Christians who perceive Gays and Lesbians as individuals allegedly influenced by demons but human rights defenders “perceive the ban as discrimination and/or a violation of human rights”.
The courts in Eswatini recently stopped the Gays and Lesbians Association from registering with the Registrar of Companies.
