King Mswati grounded after leaked information about secret trip,Private Secretary Sihle Dlamini flies to Singapore

Africa-Press – Eswatini. King Mswati had to delay his trip to Singapore on Wednesday,after information suggesting that he was about to sneak out of the country leaked and compromised his security.

As a result,only his Private Secretary Sihle Dlamini and other officials managed to fly to Singapore via the King Mswati International Airport on Wednesday.

Details of King Mswati’s travel or immigration documents, when verified with the international flight travel system, suggest that by Wednesday evening, the King was still inside eSwatini pending security assessment.

But an investigation conducted uncovered that the travel documents of his Private Secretary Sihle Dlamini when verified with the international immigration system suggested that he (King’s Private Secretary)left the country on Wednesday(22nd June 2022) around 1359hours using flight number 4Z85.

The flight left King Mswati International Airport at around 1435 hrs and arrived at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg around 1540hrs.

An insider who was part of those preparing for the King’s trip told this publication that it was delayed for security reasons.

“What happened is that the information suggesting that the King would be traveling today(Wednesday) was widely circulated among the staff at the airport and it then compromised his security.Now very few people know when he will be leaving,” said the insider.

Reached for comments, Percy Simelane, the Director of Communications in the King’s office said his office was not privy to the alleged leaks adding that it was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that was responsible for the King’s travels abroad.

“We are not privy to the alleged leaks.It is the Foreign Affairs that is responsible for the King’s travels abroad,” said the King’s Spokesperson.

Details of the King’s travel and when he would be leaving the country after the delayed Wednesday’s trip are known to this publication but cannot be revealed for ethical reasons amid security risks.

On or around 10th June 2022, this investigative journalist received information within royalty suggesting that the King would secretly travel to Singapore and Rwanda on the 17th June 2022,however, the trip was delayed amid alleged security threats among others.

According to the information in our possession, the King was expected to be out of the country before the proposed June 29th 2022 protests allegedly organized by pro-democracy groups in eSwatini.

The travel details that were subsequently changed amid security risks, suggested that King Mswati was supposed to leave the country on the 17th June 2022 and return on the 3rd July 2022.
