Africa-Press – Eswatini. EmaSwati and friends of the country have made contributions worth over E2.4 million towards the Umhlanga ceremony.
The gifts were presented on Wednesday and last evening at Mandvulo Grand Hall. The list of gifts or tetfulo towards the national event was presented by MTN Eswatini CEO, Wandile Mtshali, who is also a member of the Resource Mobilisation Committee for the double celebration.The gifts for Umhlanga were in form of groceries and cash. Beverages amounted to E415 318, while money amounted to E915 470. Other individuals pledged around E46 300. In total, Umhlanga contributions amounted to R2 487 388.
His Majesty King Mswati III received gifts from companies, traditional structures, the royal family and members of the public, ahead of his birthday celebration to be held next Wednesday. The event was characterised by moments of laughter and joy as His Majesty showed appreciation of the various gifts.
Groceries
The gifts ranged from money, cattle to groceries, to name a few. The King’s Birthday will be celebrated together with the Independence Day on September 6 at the Somhlolo National Stadium. See more in Eswatini news.
