Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Kingdom of Eswatini is gearing up to host a landmark event as the Commonwealth King’s Baton Relay arrives in the country from 14 to 19 August 2025.

Organised by the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA), this relay will place Eswatini firmly on the international sporting and cultural map. The King’s Baton Relay is more than just a traditional lead-up to the Commonwealth Games it’s a powerful symbol of unity, heritage, and shared values among the Commonwealth nations. For Eswatini, hosting the Baton is a unique opportunity to showcase its rich culture, vibrant communities, and sporting passion.

Over six action-packed days, a series of events will engage the nation. On 14 August, the Baton will be officially welcomed at a Reception Dinner hosted at the British High Commissioner’s Residence.

The following day, 15 August, a lively march through Mbabane City will kick off the day, culminating in an afternoon visit to the iconic Mantenga Cultural Village, where guests can immerse themselves in Eswatini’s traditions and arts. Sports will take centre stage on 16 August at the EOCGA Headquarters, bringing together athletes and young people to celebrate health and active lifestyles.

Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, a community clean-up along the Mbabane River is planned for 18 August. Finally, on 19 August, the Baton’s Eswatini journey will conclude with an official courtesy visit to the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

EOCGA officials highlight that the Relay embodies the spirit of camaraderie and unity that the Commonwealth Games represent. Hosting this event is not only a celebration of Eswatini’s heritage and sportsmanship but also an opportunity to build lasting international connections.
