Africa-Press – Eswatini. MBABANE Swallows have suffered a major blow following the suspension of key defender, Kingu Pemba, who will miss their crucial derby against Highlanders next week.

This comes after the player received a straight red card against Green Mamba and he will miss the next two matches for the ‘Beautiful Birds’.

The Congolese defender will also miss Swallows’ weekend fixture against Tambankulu Callies on Saturday at Prince of Wales Sports Ground.

Meanwhile, Denver Sundowns will be without holding midfielder, Alvin Shabashie, who will also serve a two-match suspension after receiving a red card against Mbabane Highlanders last weekend.

Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager, Petros Vilakati, confirmed the news through a correspondence which indicates that a total of eight players will not be available for the next batch of matches.

The other six players who have been suspended picked up their third yellow cards in the last round of fixtures deeming them ineligible to play this week.

This is according to Article 9.2(1.1) of the 2022-2023 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations. Any player is therefore automatically suspended from participating in the next one match to be played by his team.

Other Premier League teams which are victims of the suspension rule include Manzini Wanderers, who are without Bongiswa and Lindokuhle Dlamini and Denver will also be without Samkeliso Manana. Madlenya striker Sethu Ngcamphalala, Simanga Masangane from Royal Leopard and Manzini Sea Birds’ Wandile Nhleko are also among the players who won’t be part of this week’s action.
